Students at TCS do not just sit in a classroom for hours and hours. ESL students also participate in many student activities that TCS offers! Visit places in New York City with us! How about an afteroon in Central Park? Or visit Chinatown? TCS Students work hard AND have fun, too.

TCS has many classes in the morning, afternoon and evening, Monday through Saturday. Students have many options to choose from! ESL students can chose classes in grammar, pronunciation, writing, and much more! Come visit us and talk to us about our classes and schedule!

Students Come First at TCS!
At TCS, the students are the main focus of our staff and faculty. We have generally smaller classes than other ESL schools in New York. Some schools and programs in New York have lots of students in one classroom with a teacher. Here at TCS, we make sure that classes stay smaller, so you get closer attention from the teacher. In big classes with many students, it's much more difficult for students to improve. We make sure that students get the attention they need to improve their English. Also, we offer individualized S.O.S. classes for student who wish to work on specific topics in English they feel they need to. Our ESL Program: How it works.
Step one – Enrollment and Testing.
Once a student enrolls in the ESL program, the student is required to undergo testing. Once the student has completed test, he / she is will be placed into one of six levels, ranging from 0 to 5. This testing process is used to determine what curriculum and which classes the student will benefit from the most, based on that student’s vocabulary and grammatical understanding of English at the time the test is taken. The six levels are divided up into three general ‘level-blocks’: Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced. The students take a written, oral and listening test to determine their level. The tests are given free to the students upon enrollment.

Step two – Schedule and Course-work.
After the student has been enrolled and has taken the necessary placement testing, the student meets with ESL staff to discuss their schedule and test results. The student will be placed into a level based on the test results and availability of classes.
Classes offered in our ESL program include the following:
- • Pronunciation / Accent Reduction.
- • Conversation
- • Grammar for Beginner / Intermediate / Advanced levels.
- • Academic Writing / Intermediate / Advanced levels.
- • American Culture and Life in Film.
- • TOEFL Preparation – iBT.
Step three – Attend Classes!
After students select their courses, they are ready to begin their schedule. Students who enroll into the program on an F-1 Visa sponsored by TCS are required to attend classes on a full-time schedule. Come by our offices to discuss our schedule and requirements!
S.O.S. Classes!
Sometimes students need extra-attention. At TCS – International, our focus is the student: the student comes first! So, we have created an option for students who need to focus on specific areas in English they need to work on. S.O.S. lessons are here to help the students! S.O.S. lessons are one-to-one, individual lessons with a member of our faculty. Students take advantage of the intensive individualized instruction they receive during the S.O.S. lessons
(S.O.S. lessons are not accredited towards the required full-time schedule for F-1 Visa students).
